West African Examination Council, WAEC Statement/Attestation of Result or Certificate Application Guidelines and Requirements for Misplaced, Burnt, Missing or Lost Original WAEC- West African Senior Schools Certificates Examination, (WASSCE) Certificates.
The West African Examination Council, WAEC has introduced the Request for Statement/Attestation of Results for individuals who sat for the Senior School Certificate Examinations, SSCE.
The Introduction of the Request/Application of WAEC Statement/Attestation of Results was due to the large number of complaints/request from individuals who either Lost or Misplaced their Original WAEC Certificates which was earlier issued to them.
Due to the fact that board where mandated by law not issue Certificates Twice, the Statement of Result/Attestation now serves as a replacement to the WAEC Original Certificates.
NOTE: The West African Examinations Council does not issue duplicate certificates.
The Council, however, now issues Attestation of Results which are as valid as the certificate. Users who wish could confirm the details on the document with the Council.
Attestation of Results are issued to individual candidates or persons for their possession.

The Attestation must be collected personally by applicants from the offices of the Council. For the issuance of the Attestation, applicants will be required to provide the following details:
- Your Name (in full as used in the examination)
- The Name, Month and Year of Examination
- Your Index Number
- Passport photograph.
- A valid identification document.
Individuals who are victim of lost, stolen, or burnt WAEC Original Certificate can now apply for the WAEC Statement/Attestation of Results by following the guidelines below:

REQUIREMENTS:
To apply for the WAEC Statement / Attestation of Results individual candidates must be able to provide the following:- Letter of application; with the Title : "WAEC STATEMENT / ATTESTATION OF RESULT REQUEST"
- Police report on lost or damaged certificate;
- Photocopy of lost or damaged certificate;
- Two recent passport-sized photos of the candidate;
- Sworn Affidavit for collection of Attestation of Result;
- Administrative fee of N50, 000.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
LATEST UPDATE: NEW MODALITIES FOR COLLECTION OF ATTESTATION OF RESULTS BY (SCHOOL AND PRIVATE CANDIDATES) AND COLLECTION OF CERTIFICATES BY PRIVATE CANDIDATES FOR THE WEST AFRICAN SENIOR SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (WASSCE).
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria wishes to inform candidates and the general public of the new modalities for the collection of Attestation of Results and printed Certificates by candidates from offices of the Council in Nigeria.
The new modalities for collection of certificates apply to Private Candidates only, as School Candidates are expected to channel their requests through their schools. The modalities for Requests for Attestation of Results shall apply to both Private and School Candidates.
The new modalities are a clear departure from what obtained in the past, where it was mandatory for private candidates to collect their certificates or Attestation of Results from the WAEC office in the state where they sat the examination. With this new initiative, candidates can apply and collect their Certificates or Attestation of Results (both School and Private Candidates) from any WAEC office of their choice in Nigeria.
Modalities for Collection of Attestation of Results and Certificates (Private Candidates) are as follows:
1. For Attestation of Results, candidates are required to make their requests from any office of the Council and pay a non-refundable fee for the service.
2. For collection of certificates, candidates are to make their requests from any office of the Council and pay the prescribed fee
3. Candidates must state clearly the preferred office of collection of the printed Attestation of Result or Certificate and would be required to pay for courier service for delivery to the chosen location;
4. Candidates' contact details (Mobile Phone Number and E-mail Address) must be provided at the point of request.
- Write a simple and short letter to the West African Examination Council with the title given below:
- Enclosed the letter in an envelope with the requirements given above.
Processing of the Statement of Result/ Attestation begins 2 weeks after letter has been received and approved.
