LASU Matriculates Over 1,000 Sandwich Students for 2020/2021

Lagos State University (LASU) Matriculates / Admits Over One Thousand (1,000+) Sandwich Degree Students for the 2020/2021 Modular Year.

Over one thousand admission seekers today had their dreams of acquiring higher education at the Lagos State University fulfilled as they were matriculated into the Sandwich Degree Programme of the University in a brief ceremony that took place at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo on Friday 9th April, 2021.

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oyedamola Oke, in his matriculation speech, congratulated the students for choosing the second best university in the country, a decision which he said was best for them.

He said: "Lagos State University has been the University of first choice to students. LASU is also the most affordable institution of higher learning in Nigeria, yet one of the best in Africa. Your choice of LASU is the best decision any student would want to take. We have a good learning ambiance, respectable and committed academics and learning-friendly non-academic staff."

The AVC, who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Tunde Owolabi, also harped on the need for quality teachers in the country, a gap which he hoped the fresh intakes would fill. "The pivotal role of education in nation development and the dearth of teachers in our primary and secondary schools accentuated the need to bring education not only close but take education to the door steps of citizens", he said.

The Director, Sandwich Degree Programme, Prof. Oladipupo Olusola presented the students to the Acting Vice Chancellor to be matriculated as students of the University during the ceremony.

Proceedings was handled by the Registrar, Mr Olayinka Amuni, who was represented by the Deputy Registrar, Exams and Records, Mr Olabode Akinrinmade.

Earlier in the day, the Orientation Programme was carried out for the students to expose them to rules and regulations of the university as well as expectations in the areas of proper conducts, dressing, avoiding social vices and understanding of ICT and Bursary activities.

Congratulations to all the newly matriculated students.
