Liverpool have been drawn against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals following the draw at the European House of Football in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday.
The two European heavyweights met in the 2018 UCL final when the Spanish team came out as champions after a 3-1 victory. Liverpool, however, lifted the trophy the following season.
In a repeat of last year’s final, Bayern Munich will be up against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The German giants took home the European crown last season after beating PSG 1-0 in the title match.
The Parisians, however, are in stellar form this year, having knocked out Barcelona in the pre-quarterfinals.
Former champions, Chelsea, have been pitted against FC Porto, who come fresh after eliminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus in the Round of 16.
On the other hand, Chelsea made short work of Atletico Madrid in the pre-quarterfinals.
Although the teams were drawn at random with no seeding or country protection, all three English teams were able to avoid each other in the last eight.
Chasing their first UEFA Champions League title, Manchester City will lock horns with Borussia Dortmund.
The Pep Guardiola-coached City couldn’t get past the quarter-finals last season while Dortmund were eliminated in the Round of 16.
The UCL quarter-finals will be played over two legs, with the first leg matches scheduled on April 6 and 7 and the second leg on April 13 and 14.
The two-legged semi-finals will be held on April 27 and 28 and May 4 and 5. The final will be played on May 29 in Istanbul.
