Kano State Government Directs 44 Local Governments in the state to pay National Examinations Council (NECO) Examination fees for Ten Thousand Four Hundred (10,400) Indigent Students.

The Kano State Government in a statement issued on Sunday, June 27, said it has directed the 44 local governments in the state to pay National Examinations Council (NECO) examination fees for 10,400 indigent students.

According to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule-Garo, the Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje directed each of the eight metropolitan local governments to settle examination fees of 400 less privileged students. The local governments included Kano Municipal, Dala, Nasarawa, Gwale, Tarauni, Ungogo, Fagge, and Kumbotso.

Sule-Garo also added that each of the remaining 36 local governments would select 200 less privileged students to pay their examination fees. The 44 local governments in the state are to set up a committee for the selection process.

The commissioner, however, urged wealthy individuals and non-governmental organizations to join hands with the government to restore the glory of education in the state.
