Delta State University (DELSU) Institute of Education (IOE) Centre for Continuing Education Programmes (CCEP) Regular Diploma Admission Form, Courses, Admission Requirements, Online Application Guidelines and Deadline for 2021/2022 Academic Session.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates into the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka Regular Diploma programmes of the Institute of Education for the 2021/2022 academic session.



    Online application will start on Tuesday, 31st August, 2021.

    Duration of Courses: 

    Duration of study is four (4) Semesters Or Intensive Eight (8) weeks professional contact.

    Available Courses & Requirements.

    Applicants must possess at least four credits at not more than two sittings in the GCE O/L or NECO, SSC or WASC, NABTEB or its equivalent. Candidates are also expected to fulfill the specific Departmental Requirements for their various courses of choice.

    FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES
    1) Accounting.
    Requirement: SSCE or its equivalent (TC II, WASC, GCE O/Level, NECO, NABTEB, RSA awarded by WAEC) with a minimum of five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other subjects from Business Methods, Principle of Account, Literature in English, Commerce, History Statistics, Geography, Government Agric Science/Biology obtained at not more than two sittings.

    2) Business Administration
    Requirement: A minimum of Five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) NECO or GCE O/Level including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two Social science subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.

    3) Social Work
    Requirement: A minimum of Five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) NECO or GCE O/Level, TCII or their equivalent including English Language, Mathematics and two social science subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.

    4) Criminology and Security Studies.
    Requirement: A minimum of Five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) NECO or GCE O/Level, TCII or their equivalent including English Language Mathematics and two social science subject obtained at not more than two sittings.

    5) Public Administration
    Requirement: Five (5) O/Level credit passes in SSCE, NECO or GCE O/L, NABTEB, TCII or their equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Government & two social science subjects.

    6) Mass Communication
    Requirement: Five (5) O/Level credit passes in SSCE, NECO or GCE O/L including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English and two social science subjects.

    i) Peace Building strategic and Development Studies
    Requirement: Five (5) O/Level credits which should include English and a pass in Mathematics.

    i) Conflict Studies/Resolution Strategies and Risk Management

    Requirement: Five (5) O/Level credits including English, Literature and a pass in Mathematics.

    NEW DIPLOMA COURSES

    ARTS COURSES
    1) Music:
    a. Credit passes at the SSCE / WAEC/ NECO/NABTEB or GCE Ordinary level in five subjects, including English Language and a Pass in Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
    b. JMB or RSA Stage II certificate with credit pass in five subjects at O’ level, including English Language and a Pass in Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
    c. Grade 5 in Music Theory or Practical of the ABRSM or MUSON is equivalent to O’ Level credit in music.
    d. A One year certificate in music from a recognised institution approved by the Senate of the Delta State University shall be accepted as a credit passes in music.

    2) French:
    For admission into the 2-Year Diploma Programme for Diploma in French that shall run for four (4) semesters, a candidate must possess five credit passes at not more than two sittings including a credit in English language, a Pass in Mathematics and any other four subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) or its equivalent.

    3) Theatre Arts:
    Credit passes at the SSCE, NECO or G.C.E Ordinary level in at least five subjects including English Language, Literature in English and a Pass in Mathematics in not more than two sittings.

    4) Fine and Applied Arts:
    Candidates shall be considered for a 2-Year (4-Semester), Diploma programme. Such candidates must possess at least five (5) O’ Level credits passes at the SSCE, NECO, GCE in English Language, a Pass in Mathematics and any other three subjects in not more than two sittings.

    ENGINEERING COURSES
    1) Chemical Engineering:
    Candidates for admission into the programme should possess any of the following:
    a. Credit pass in five (5) subjects which include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any other subject at O’level GCE /WASC/SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB in not more than two (2) sittings.
    b. TCII with credit passes as in 1 above are eligible to apply.
    c. City and Guilds Certificate (part 1) in Chemical Engineering or its related discipline.

    2) Civil Engineering:
    Candidates for admission into the programme should possess any of the following:
    i. Credit pass in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any other subject at O’level GCE / WASC / SSCE/ NECO
    / NABTEB in not more than two (2) sittings.
    ii. TCII with credit passes as in 1 above are eligible to apply; and
    iii. City and Guilds Certificate (part 1) in Civil Engineering or its related discipline.

    3) Electrical Engineering:
    To be eligible for admission into the diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering programme, all candidates must satisfy the following minimum entrance requirements:
    a. Five credit passes in O’level GCE/WASC/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB. The subjects include Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any other science subject in not more than two (2) sittings.
    b. TCII with credit passes as in 1 above are eligible to apply.
    c. City and Guilds Certificate (part 1) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or its related discipline.

    4) Mechanical Engineering:
    Candidates for admission into the program should possess any of the following:
    a. Credit pass in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any other subject at O’level GCE/ WASC/ SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB in not more than two (2) sittings.
    b. TCII with credit passes as in 1 above are eligible to apply.
    c. City and Guilds Certificate (part 1) in Mechanical Engineering or its related discipline.

    5) Petroleum Engineering:
    Candidates for admission into the program should possess any of the following:
    a. Credit pass in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any other subject at O’level GCE/ WASC/ SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB in not more than two (2) sittings.

    MANAGEMENT SCIENCE COURSES
    1) Banking and Finance:
    Applicants with the following qualifications may be considered for admission into the Diploma Programme: Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent (Teachers Grade II, W.A.S.C., GCE Ordinary Level, NECO, NABTEB, RSA (awarded by WAEC) with five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) subject from the following: Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric Science or Biology obtained at not more than two
    (2) sitting.

    2) Business Administration and Entrepreneurship:
    University requirement of five (5) credits in not more than two (2) sittings, in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE ‘O’ level including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and/or Commerce and any other two (2) Social/Management Science Subject

    3) Marketing:
    University requirement of five (5) credits in not more than two sittings, in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE ‘O’ level including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and/or Commerce and any other two (2) Social/Management Science Subject.

    4) Accounting:
    Candidates should possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent, (Teachers grade II, WASC, GCE Ordinary Level, NECO, NABTEB, RSA awarded by WAEC) with a minimum of Five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and one other subject from the following: Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric. Science/Biology, obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.

    SCIENCE COURSES
    1) Plant Science:
    Candidates intending to study the two (2) years programme in Plant Science must possess WASC/GCE ‘O’ or SSCE Credit passes in five subjects, which must include English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in not more than two (2) sittings.

    2) Environmental Biology:
    For admission into the two-years diploma programme in Environmental Biology, candidates must possess WASC/GCE ‘O’ or SSCE Credit passes in five subjects, which must include Biology, Chemistry Physics, Mathematics and English Language (at one sitting)

    3) Computer Science:
    To qualify for admission into Diploma in Computer Science programme, candidates must possess at least five O/L Credit passes at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two of Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Geography

    4) Microbiology & Fermentation Technology:
    Candidates should possess the GCE O/L or SSCE or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five subjects which should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in not more than two (2) sittings.

    5) Mathematics & Applied Statistics:
    Candidates seeking admission into the two year diploma programme must possess five O/L credit passes which must include English Language and Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Further Mathematics.

    6) Biochemistry & Biotechnology:
    Candidates should possess the G.C.E. O/L or SSCE or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five subjects, which should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in not more than two (2) sittings.

    7) Petroleum and Environmental Chemistry:
    Candidates must possess credits with WASC, NECO, or G.C.E O/L (or its equivalent) in at least five subjects including English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and one other science subject in not more than two sittings.

    8) Geology:
    The general entry requirements for the OND programme are five (5) ‘O’ level credits which must include Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Physics and any other Science subject in not more than two (2) sittings.

    9) Science Laboratory Technology (SLT):
    Five (5) credit level passes in SSCE (WAEC or NECO)/GCE O/L in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language obtained at not more than two (2) sittings. Equivalent qualifications such as NABTEB are acceptable.

    SOCIAL SCIENCES COURSES
    1) Accounting:

    Candidates must possess a minimum of Five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) NECO or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O’ Level including English Language, Mathematics and Economics and any other Social Science subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.

    3) Social Work:
    A minimum of Five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) NECO or General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level (GCE) O’ Level TC II or their equivalent, including English Language, Mathematics and two Social Science subjects and any other subject obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.

    4) Criminology and Security Studies:
    A minimum of Five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) NECO or General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE) O’ Level TC II or their equivalent, including English Language, Mathematics and two Social Science subject and any other subject obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.

    5) Public Administration:
    A minimum of Five (5) O/Level credit passes in (SSCE) NECO, NABTEB, TC II or its equivalent at not more than two sittings., which shall include English Language, Mathematics, Government and any other Social Science subjects.

    6) Mass Communication:
    A minimum of Five (5) O/Level credit passes in (SSCE) NECO, NABTEB, GCE or its equivalent at not more than two sittings., these should include credit in English Language, Mathematics, and Literature in English and two Social Science subjects

    7) Economics & Social Statistics:
    Five CREDIT passes at the SSCE, NECO, NABTEB, G.C.E Ordinary Level, including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and one other Social Science subject, and any other subject, in not more than two sittings.

    8) Geospatial Studies and Disaster Management:
    Candidates should possess a minimum of five credits at the SSCE or GCE (O/L) or NECO or O/L NABTEB at not more than two sittings. The five credits must be in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two subjects from Economics, Government, Commerce, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, CRS, Literature in English, Accounting and Agricultural Science.

    9. LAW:
    Five CREDIT passes at SSCE, WAEC, NABTEB, G.C.E Ordinary Level, including English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects from Arts and Social Science in not more than two (2) sittings.

    2 (a) Candidates should, with the pin for payment, access and complete the Delta State University, Abraka 2021/2022 Diploma (ED) form online at www.delsuonline.com with their recent colour passport-sized photograph scanned to the JPEG format and not more than 20kb in size.

    (b) Candidates are advised to use virtual pin immediately after payment, as the pin will be invalid after six (6) hours of generation.

    (c) Candidates are advised to read the instructions on the front page of the website before completing the form.

    (d) Candidates are required to come to the examination venue with the following:
    • a copy of the Print-out of completed online confirmation of application;
    • two recent passport-sized colour photographs with the full names of candidates and signature on the reversed side of the photographs; four-figure table (where applicable); and Biro, HB pencil and eraser.

    NOTE:
